ABOUT BYOB
what does it really mean to ‘bring your own brand’?
Fundamental to creating a culture in a family, community or company is acknowledging that at the heart of a culture is establishing first a person’s sense of self. BYOB utilizes self-assessments to help an individual begin with the power of self-development.
Michael, through the power of his own story, explores the difference between assimilation and acculturation, he explains why social emotional intelligence needs more equipping and why understanding and leading with your strengths, your purpose and your passion drives personal brand development.
He is firm in his belief that diversity, equity and inclusion are not enough to move the dial on elevating humanity. He believes we must drive home the power of BELONGING—the strongest narrative for rebuilding culture and community.
BELONGING:
The shared experience of co-created unity that grounds identity and transforms otherness unto togetherness
Michael co-created this definition of belonging with Karmyn Sessoms in 2018 and is currently revising this definition to embrace the current state. Be on the lookout for a next-level version of a belonging framing statement.
THE SIX “I’s”
Michael believes that the six I’s are the keys and the formula to driving and seeding a sense of belonging. Those six I’s are:
Individual
Inspiration
Intelligence
Interdependence
Impact
Integrity
